April 22 , 2005 - Well folks, the time has come to say goodbye.
Jim Frye is leaving the great state of Michigan for the warmer climate and new opportunities that Athens, GA has to offer. We wish Jim all the good fortune in the world down in Georgia... and we are happy to have had the opportunity to enjoy making music with him for the last two years or so.
Jehan and myself will continue to play music in one form or another, and we'll keep you all posted of any musical endeavors by any of the three of us (I assume we'll all be up to something fairly soon)... But nevertheless, Rome for a Day is just about done.
Before we say goodbye for good, we are throwing one last old-fashioned shindig... May 21, 2005 will be our last show, and of course it will be at the ELBOW ROOM. The Elbow has been like a home base for us, and we are happy to be able to play it one last time. Joining us on May 21 will be our friends in Bang! Bang!, Charlevoix, Paradise, Glori5 and Human Wick Effect. More info about that show to come soon... it's gonna be a blast.
Until then, take care... and make sure to come to one of the Free Noise Projects I'm putting on this summer at the Elbow. The next one is on May 4... and they have been a heck of a good time so far. If you want to be involved in a Free Noise Project, email freenoiseproject@mac.com ...
Take Care Gang.
February 1, 2005 - The release shows with Heads Will Roll were awesome. Thanks to HWR for being the shit! Thanks also to Friction Records for putting the record out, and for all of the venues that welcomed us to play and have a good time.
For those of you that came to one or more (we know who you are) of the shows, thank you. We had a great time at all four of the shows with HWR, and we appreciate the opportunity to share our music with all of you.
We have one show coming up this month, and probably a few more this spring. Check the Shows page for updates.
January 3, 2005 - HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! The new record is OUT!!! For those of you who don't know (where have you been?), we have a new Split 10" record with Heads Will Roll out now on Friction Records. Our side includes an 8 and 1/2 minute track called "Songs of Victory." We recorded the song last summer at Key Club Audio (the same place we recorded our CD), and we're very excited about it being released on Friction Records (on 180 gram vinyl too!!!). Heads Will Roll's new song "Our Belief In The Divine Government Of The Universe," and their cover of Faith No More's "Surprise! You're Dead!" grace the other side of the record. It sounds great. GET IT!!! The record will be available at all of our upcoming shows with Heads Will Roll, AND for those who can't wait, you can order it from us. Go to the Merch Page for info.
Rome for a Day also has a couple of shows this week to kick off the new year and celebrate the release of our new Split 10" with Heads Will Roll on Friction Records.Thursday January 6 we will be playing at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor. Also on the bill for January 6 are Heads Will Roll, The Holy Fire and I, The Magician. Rome for a Day will be playing second or third.
